5 Dog-Friendly Parks in Charlotte

Does your favorite furball need a little something more than a run around the backyard or an on-leash jaunt that limits them? Does your best friend need to run off a little energy? Get social with some other dogs? No problem! There are bunches of great dog parks for play dates and more in Charlotte. Not only that, but many of the dog parks also have great amenities for their pet parents making a trip to the dog park a family affair! Here’s a quick look at five of the most highly rated dog parks in Charlotte, as well as two bonus spaces dogs will definitely enjoy (and their humans too!).

Davie Dog Park at William R. Davie District Park

The largest dog park in all of Charlotte, Davie Dog Park is 5 acres of off-leash, fenced-in joy for dogs. The park has three separate play areas, including an area for our littlest four-legged friends. Davie Dog Park is abundant in grass and shade trees to give worn-out dogs a rest and reprieve before they venture out to play more. This generous dog-friendly space is just a small part of the 107-acre park that has wonderful on-leash walking trails, a pond, multiple sports fields, andrestrooms for its human visitors.

Shuffletown Park

Boasting separate areas for both big and little dogs to have worry-free fun, Shuffletown Park is four acres of fenced-in, off-leash area for pups to run and play. While there isn’t as much grass as in other parks, shade trees are plentiful in the highly rated dog park. The surrounding park area also has a children’s playground, several sports fields, and restrooms.

Frazier Place Dog Park

Located within Frazier Park, Frazier Place Dog Park is a dog’s dream come true. The park has separate spaces for large and small dogs. It also has a bunch of amenities such as water stations, swimming pools, waste stations, and a generous space for pups to run and play off-leash. Want to go for a more structured walk? Plenty of on-leash walking trails abound on Frazier Park’s 16.5-acre park that also hosts multiple sports fields and a playground.

Ray’s Fetching Meadow at McAlpine Creek Park

McAlpine Creek Park’s dog park is fenced-in and offers off-leash spaces for both large and small dogs. There’s plenty of space for dogs to run and play, as well as plenty of benches for pet parents  to take a seat during playtime. For humans, the 114-acre park boasts a 2-mile bike trail, gazebo, fishing pier, 1.5-mile nature trail, and a 3-acre lake. There’s something for everyone in the family – furry and otherwise.

Renaissance Dog Park

Open from 7 am to dusk, Renaissance Dog Park is a wonderful space for safe, off-leash frolicking. The dog park is located within Renaissance Park which has an abundance of bike trails, two softball fields, a skate park, seven sand volleyball courts, and an expert-level disc golf course.
