What can urgent care treat?

Petfolk's South Florida vets see these the same day:

• Vomiting or diarrhea

• Itchy skin, hot spots, ear infections and eye problems

• Limping

• Small cuts

• Coughing

• Something your pet ate, if it is still acting like itself

Every Petfolk clinic has an in-house lab for many tests, digital x-rays and basic ultrasound. Read about urgent care at Petfolk.

When should I go to the ER instead?

Petfolk does not run an overnight hospital. Head to a 24-hour ER if your pet:

• Bit or licked a cane toad and is drooling, pawing at its mouth or acting strange. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission warns a pet can die in as little as 15 minutes without treatment

• Is having trouble breathing

• Collapses or has a seizure

• Was hit by a car

• Won't stop bleeding

• Is a cat that can't pee

One hospital in each county says on its own website that it is open 24 hours (checked November 1, 2026):

• Miami Veterinary Specialists, 8601 Sunset Drive, Miami

• VEG Boynton Beach, 2246 N. Congress Ave., Boynton Beach

Our post on urgent care vs. emergency care goes deeper.

Pets give us so much, from their unconditional love to their companionship to their silly expressions that never fail to make us laugh. Your cats and dogs are more than “just pets.” They’re part of the family. No one understands that more than Petfolk, where we’re pet people, too. When choosing a vet in South Florida, know that choosing Petfolk won’t only guarantee you the best in veterinary services but will also allow you to rest assured that your pet’s care team loves them as much as you do.

Basically, we exist in order to make you and your cat or dog's veterinary experience as calm, joyful, and stress-free as it can possibly be.
