by Petfolk Care Team
VCPR stands for “Veterinary-Client-Patient-Relationship.” Once this relationship exists, it allows a veterinarian to diagnose and treat your pet as well as prescribe medications based on the veterinarian's judgment. In addition, when a VCPR is established, the veterinarian is responsible for your pet's care, medical documentation, and customer education and guidance after seeing your pet.
How is a VCPR created?
Individual state laws define how a VCPR can be created in each state. Speaking generally to the majority of state laws, a VCPR is created when a veterinarian performs an in-person physical exam of your pet. That VCPR is maintained by regular re-evaluation in person as needed based on your veterinarian’s judgment.
Why is a VCPR important?
Once a VCPR is established, the Petfolk team can support you and your pet both in-person and virtually as the veterinarian sees fit. This means pets seen in-person by Petfolk can have full access to Virtual Care, anytime, anywhere. Our team is composed of doctors and nurses who are here to help you figure out the next best steps for your pet!
