Kitten Vaccines in Vintage Park, Houston, TX, From Your Local Vet
From the first FVRCP shot to rabies, one simple plan for your kitten.
Petfolk Veterinary & Urgent Care - Vintage Park is a vet in Vintage Park, Houston, that gives kittens their full vaccine series. Most kittens start FVRCP at 6 to 8 weeks old, get boosters every 3 to 4 weeks until about 16 weeks, and get rabies by 16 weeks.
Kittens grow fast, and so do their needs. The early visits are also the best time to talk about litter boxes, scratching, food and when to spay or neuter.
Call (346) 658-0421 or book online. Walk-ins are welcome, and the clinic is open weekends.
What vaccines does a kitten need, and when?
At Petfolk Vintage Park, a typical kitten plan looks like this:
6 to 8 weeks: first FVRCP shot, an exam, a stool check and deworming.
10 to 12 weeks: second FVRCP, and the first feline leukemia (FeLV) shot.
14 to 16 weeks: third FVRCP, the FeLV booster, and the rabies vaccine.
About one year: boosters for FVRCP, rabies and, for cats who go outside, FeLV.
Across Petfolk, kittens typically started their vaccines with us at about 10 weeks old (first doses October 2025 through June 2026). If your kitten came from a shelter or a neighbor's litter and you aren't sure what was given, the vet starts from today.
Why can't my kitten stop after the first shot?
A single FVRCP shot isn't enough for a young kitten. Antibodies from the mother cat can block a vaccine for weeks, and the timing differs for every kitten. The booster series makes sure protection takes hold once those antibodies fade.
Across Petfolk's Houston-area clinics, about 3 in 10 kittens who started their vaccines with us came back for three or more FVRCP visits from October 2025 through September 2026. Put the next date in your phone before you leave.
What happens at a kitten visit
Most kitten visits at Petfolk Vintage Park include a vaccine. Across Petfolk's Houston-area clinics, about 3 in 4 kitten wellness visits did, and about half included a lab test, often a stool check or an FIV and FeLV blood test.
Fear Free handling is standard at every Petfolk clinic. Small kittens are held close, kept warm and given time to explore. Short, calm visits now help raise a cat who doesn't panic at the sight of a carrier.
Very friendly and caring of our baby kitten.

When does my kitten need the rabies shot?
Texas requires dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies by 16 weeks of age. Cats matter here: the Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed rabies in 19 cats in 2025, more than any other domestic animal. Across Petfolk's Houston-area clinics, 6 in 10 kittens who started vaccines with us also got their rabies shot with us.
What do kitten shots cost?
Kitten vaccines are given at wellness visits, which start at $99 at Petfolk Vintage Park, or are included with a PetfolkCare membership, which starts at $199 a year. You'll get an estimate before any test or treatment. The final bill can differ if the plan changes during the visit.
Bring this to the first visit
Any records from the shelter, rescue or breeder.
A small stool sample, even a tiny one.
The name of the food your kitten eats.
Questions about litter, scratching posts and spaying or neutering.
Signs that need a call
Mild sleepiness after shots is normal. Call the clinic for vomiting, diarrhea or facial swelling. A kitten that stops eating for a day, breathes with an open mouth, or can't stand up should go to a 24-hour emergency hospital such as BluePearl Pet Hospital on Spring Cypress Rd in Spring.
