What is a Veterinary Wellness Exam?

Preventative care for pets is a vital part of keeping your pet healthy. Animals age faster than humans, and a yearly dog or cat wellness exam is essential for keeping your pet up to date on their vaccinations and veterinary diagnostic tests. When you come into Petfolk for your cat or dog wellness exam, we'll work with you to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible while also keeping an eye out for symptoms that could indicate an issue that requires follow-up care.

Wellness exams are routine and take place when your pet is healthy as opposed to when you seek care for an ill animal. Also known as a physical, check-up, or primary care visit, our Wellness Exams ensure your little (or big) one receives proactive pet healthcare.

What to expect during your pet’s Wellness Exam.

When you come in for your pet's wellness exam, we'll take your pet's vital signs, including their weight and temperature. One of our staff members will perform a complete physical exam and talk with you about your pet's health history. We'll also review any current concerns regarding your pet's health.

Dog and Cat Vaccinations

Vaccinations protect your pet from disease, and we're happy to offer our customers the most well-respected vaccination lines. When you come in for a preventative care appointment, we'll discuss the vaccination options for your pet and develop a plan based on their unique needs.

Diagnostic Testing & Digital Radiology

We may recommend diagnostic testing if we recognize a potential issue with your pet. This can help us identify issues that need attention.

Dental Care

Just like you, your pet needs regular dental care. Providing your pet with regular dental exams can help prevent dental issues that are harder to treat down the line.

Nutritional Care

Your pet's excellent health is supported by the nutrition you provide at home, but it can be tough to figure out the best food for your pet. When you come in for preventative care visits, we'll work with you to recommend the best food for your pet.

Frequently Asked Urgent Care Questions

Q: What will my vet exam cost?

A: During your pet's annual wellness exam, we'll work with you to understand your pet's current health needs. A comprehensive exam will help us utilize preventative care to keep your pet healthy and happy for years to come.

Q: Are cat and dog vaccinations included in my pet's wellness exam?

A: We recommend a vaccination schedule based on your pet's age and health needs. Vaccines are an important part of wellness care for pets. Your veterinary team will review your pets previous records, partner with you to assess your pets individual lifestyle, and then make recommendations you keep your pet protected. Have questions about vaccines? Virtual care with PetfolkNow is a great way to get additional information on vaccines from medical professionals.

Q: Do you offer blood tests for pets?

A: Yes we do. Petfolk strongly believes bloodwork is an important part of preventive care. It allows us to screen pets for common illnesses, monitor internal organ wellness, and evaluate blood components. Doing this helps us catch diseases earlier and slow or reverse progression, allowing our pets to live longer healthier lives. Some of our tests are run during the appointment and results are shared the same day while others are sent out to the lab. Once results are back (within a few days), a veterinary professional reaches out to discuss the results and ensure all of your questions are answered.
