Molly Gentry
Customer Support, Virtual Care
Since the first time she stepped in a stable at 5 years old, Molly knew she was meant to be covered in animal hair. Her love of animals came with her first dog, a border collie/australian shepherd mix named Max, the “nanny dog” that never let her out of his sight. Molly was raised in a rural area of Virginia where she had the absolute pleasure of literally being raised in a barn, surrounded by her large family (she is the youngest of 6), and a constant canine companion at her side.
Claire was ill in her older years and after months of palliative care, Molly recognized that this desire to nurture senior pets was not just directed at her own dog. Though she had a lifetime of experience in boarding kennels, riding facilities and volunteering in shelters, she felt an itch for more. Molly’s biggest passion in veterinary medicine is palliative hospice care, end of life and euthanasia. Though that sounds bleak, Molly sees euthanasia as a gift to our pet owners and enjoys being able to support and deeply empathize with them in the same ways she was supported during that difficult decision.
During the pandemic in 2020, Molly was working as veterinary technician and was soon put on furlough when budget cuts had to be made. Her current dog Neville, a four year old terrier mix, had recently torn his ACL and Molly no longer had her hiking partner that could keep up. Hiking, camping and the outdoors, as well as environmental conservation, are the only passions that come to par with her love for medicine. This sparked an idea in her mind, “I bet there are a lot of dogs out there driving their now working-from-home owners nuts...I need a hiking buddy...let’s see if we can kill two birds with one stone.” This quickly turned into Tails on Trails NOVA, a non-profit hiking business with focus in improving the lives of owners and dogs alike.
It was her heart dog Claire, a blue merle, brown-eyed Aussie that showed Molly the side of her life she had been missing; a career in veterinary medicine.
These days, Molly occupies herself with her two cats, Gwendolyn and Finnley and her dog Neville. She was drawn to this company because she appreciates the kind approach, Fear Free techniques and empathetic nature of the team. Looking forward, Molly’s main goals are to finish her Veterinary Technician degree and grow with One Vet while pursuing her love for environmentalism in any way she can.
