Puppy Vaccines in Vintage Park, Houston, TX, From Your Local Vet
A clear shot schedule from your puppy's first visit to the last booster.
Petfolk Veterinary & Urgent Care - Vintage Park is a vet in Vintage Park, Houston, that gives puppies their full vaccine series. Most puppies start at about 6 to 8 weeks old and come back every 3 to 4 weeks until they are at least 16 weeks old.
A new puppy brings a lot of questions. The first visit answers most of them: which shots are due, when the next ones fall, and when your puppy can safely meet other dogs.
Call (346) 658-0421 or book online. Walk-ins are welcome, and the clinic is open weekends.
What is the puppy vaccine schedule?
At Petfolk Vintage Park, most puppies follow this plan:
6 to 8 weeks: first distemper-parvo shot (DHPP), a fecal test and a deworming plan.
10 to 12 weeks: second distemper-parvo shot. Kennel cough and lepto can start here if your puppy needs them.
14 to 16 weeks: third distemper-parvo shot and the rabies vaccine.
16 to 20 weeks: a final distemper-parvo booster for some puppies, depending on when the series began.
Across Petfolk, puppies typically start their vaccines with us at about 11 weeks old (first doses October 2025 through June 2026). Starting late is fine. The vet simply builds the series from your puppy's age today.
Why every booster counts
Puppies get some protection from their mother's milk, but it fades at a different time in each puppy. The booster series covers that gap. Stopping after one or two shots can leave a puppy open to parvo, a virus that causes severe vomiting and bloody diarrhea and spreads through infected stool.
Across Petfolk's Houston-area clinics, more than 4 in 10 puppies who started their vaccines with us had three or more distemper-parvo visits from October 2025 through September 2026. Bring your puppy back on time, and keep paws off public grass until the vet says the series is complete.

When can my puppy get the rabies shot?
Texas requires dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies by 16 weeks of age. At Petfolk Vintage Park, most puppies get it at 12 to 16 weeks. If you live in unincorporated Harris County, county rules also call for a Harris County license once your dog is over three months old (Harris County Pets). The rabies certificate from the visit is what you'll need.
Gentle first visits
The first trips to the vet shape how your puppy feels about the next hundred. Fear Free handling is standard at every Petfolk clinic. The team uses treats, lets your puppy explore the room, and keeps the shots quick. Bring your puppy hungry so treats work better.
What do puppy shots cost?
Puppy vaccines are given at wellness visits, which start at $99 at Petfolk Vintage Park, or are included with a PetfolkCare membership, which starts at $199 a year. You'll get an estimate before any test or treatment. The final bill can differ if the plan changes during the visit.
What to bring to the first puppy visit
Any shot records from the breeder, shelter or rescue.
A fresh stool sample in a bag.
A list of foods and treats you are using.
Your questions about crate training, chewing and house training.
After a shot
A sleepy puppy or a sore spot is normal for a day. Call the clinic if your puppy's face swells, hives appear, or vomiting starts within a few hours. If your puppy collapses or struggles to breathe, go to a 24-hour emergency hospital such as BluePearl Pet Hospital on Spring Cypress Rd in Spring.
