Petfolk Veterinary & Urgent Care - Sandy Springs is a vet in Sandy Springs, GA, that completes domestic health certificates for dogs and cats traveling within the continental US only. That covers trips to the lower 48 states; it does not cover Hawaii, Alaska, the US territories or travel outside the country.
Only some Petfolk vets do certificates, and only on some days, so call (678) 673-3977 to check before you book. Say where you are going when you call, so the team can tell you quickly if the trip is covered.
Which trips can Petfolk Sandy Springs certify?
Petfolk Sandy Springs can certify a dog or cat going from Georgia to another state in the continental US, by car or by air. A domestic health certificate, also called a certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI), is a vet's signed statement, made after an exam, that your pet looked healthy and is current on required vaccines, which means rabies in most states.
Examples of covered trips include a move to Florida, a flight to Colorado or a drive to Tennessee. Each destination still sets its own rules, and the USDA APHIS pet travel FAQ says to contact the State Veterinarian's office in your destination state.
Trips we cannot certify
Petfolk Sandy Springs does not complete certificates for Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands or other territories. Those places have their own extra entry rules, and they are outside what this clinic certifies. Travel outside the US is also outside it; the USDA APHIS pet travel site explains the steps.
If you are unsure where your trip falls, call first. A two-minute call is faster than booking an exam that cannot lead to the right paper.
What the certificate visit includes
For a covered trip, the Petfolk Sandy Springs vet examines your pet, checks the vaccine record and completes the certificate if everything fits the destination's rules. Fear Free handling is standard at every Petfolk clinic, so the exam stays gentle.
Bring:
The rabies certificate (the paper, not just the tag).
Your destination address and travel dates.
The airline's written pet rules, if you are flying.
Microchip details, if your pet has a chip.
Vaccines that are due can often be given at the visit, but some destinations want them a set number of days before you arrive, so plan early. You'll get an estimate before any test or treatment; the final bill can differ if the plan changes during the visit.
Airlines add their own rules
An airline can ask for more than the destination state does. Many ask for a certificate dated within about 10 days of the flight, though that is common practice, not a rule for every carrier. Check your airline, and bring its pet policy to the visit.
Certificates are by appointment with the vets who offer them, and same-day slots are not something to count on, so book as soon as your dates are firm.

When to go to a 24-hour emergency hospital
Petfolk is a primary and urgent care clinic, not an emergency hospital. If your pet is having trouble breathing, has collapsed or has a seizure before your trip, go to a 24-hour emergency hospital straight away, and rebook the certificate once your pet has recovered.
