Pet Urgent Care in Sandy Springs, GA, From Your Local Vet

Petfolk Veterinary & Urgent Care - Sandy Springs is a vet in Sandy Springs, GA, that gives same-day urgent care to dogs and cats. If your pet is sick or hurt and it can't wait for a routine visit, walk in or book online, including on weekends.

Urgent care fits the space between "let's watch it" and a 24-hour emergency hospital. Not sure which one you need? Many problems can be handled by urgent care, and the team can help you decide when you call.

Call (678) 673-3977 or book online. Walk-ins are welcome.

When should my pet go to a 24-hour emergency hospital instead?

Go to a 24-hour emergency hospital right away if your pet is struggling to breathe, has collapsed, is having a seizure, has a swollen hard belly with retching, was hit by a car, or is bleeding heavily. Petfolk Sandy Springs is a primary and urgent care clinic, not an emergency hospital. Nearby, BluePearl Pet Hospital at 455 Abernathy Rd NE in Sandy Springs runs a 24-hour emergency service and asks you to call ahead.

What can Petfolk Sandy Springs treat the same day?

Petfolk Sandy Springs handles most problems that need attention today but are not life-threatening. Common reasons pet parents come in:

• Vomiting or diarrhea that started in the last day or two

• Limping, a sore paw or a torn nail

• Small cuts, bite wounds and scrapes

• Ear pain, head shaking or a bad smell from the ears

• Itchy skin, hot spots or a sudden rash

• Eye redness or squinting

• Trouble peeing or straining in the litter box (for male cats, see the warning below)

• Eating something they shouldn't have, like a sock or chocolate

The clinic has an in-house lab for many tests, digital x-rays and basic ultrasound, so the vet can often find the cause during the same visit. An on-site pharmacy means many pets go home with medicine in hand.

How a same-day visit works

1. Walk in, or book online for the soonest time.

2. A team member asks what happened and checks your pet's breathing and gums first.

3. The vet examines your pet and explains what they think is going on.

4. You get an estimate before any test or treatment. The final bill can differ if the plan changes during the visit.

5. You leave with a plan, medicine if needed, and clear signs that mean "come back" or "go to the 24-hour hospital."

Fear Free handling is standard at every Petfolk clinic, which matters most when a pet is already hurting and scared.

What does an urgent care visit cost?

At Petfolk Sandy Springs, a sick or urgent exam starts at $135. Tests, x-rays and medicine are added only after you agree to them. PetfolkCare membership starts at $199 a year, and members can reach a 24/7 care team by chat, which helps when you are unsure whether to come in.

Weekends and holidays in Sandy Springs

Pet problems don't keep office hours. Petfolk Sandy Springs is open weekends, and same-day appointments are available. Many Google reviews for the clinic mention weekend visits.

So easy to make a last minute urgent care appointment…and on a Sunday!

Summer in Sandy Springs is hot and humid, so heavy panting, drooling or weakness after a walk needs a call right away. July 3 and 4 bring fireworks, which the city allows on those dates, and some dogs bolt or get hurt in a panic.

Male cats who can't pee

A male cat straining in the litter box with little or no urine can have a blocked bladder. That can't wait. If Petfolk Sandy Springs can't see him right away, go straight to a 24-hour emergency hospital.
