Call (770) 637-0032, book online or walk in.

Is it urgent care or a 24-hour emergency hospital?

Some signs need a 24-hour emergency hospital right away, not urgent care. Go straight there if your pet:

• Is struggling to breathe or has blue or gray gums

• Has collapsed, can't stand, or is having a seizure

• Has a hard, swollen belly and is retching with nothing coming up

• Was hit by a car or is bleeding heavily

• Is a male cat straining to pee with little or nothing coming out

Petfolk Peachtree Corners is a primary and urgent care clinic, not an emergency hospital. Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Brookhaven, at 3964 Peachtree Rd NE, is open 24 hours and takes walk-ins.

What can be treated the same day?

Petfolk Peachtree Corners treats most problems that can't wait but aren't critical. Common reasons for a same-day visit:

• Vomiting or diarrhea that started in the last day or two

• Limping, a cut paw pad or a torn nail

• Bite wounds, scrapes and small cuts

• Ear pain, head shaking or a sour smell from the ears

• Hot spots, hives or a face that swelled after a sting

• A red, squinting or cloudy eye

• A pet who ate something odd, like a sock, grapes or chocolate

• A cat who stopped eating or is peeing outside the box

The clinic has an in-house lab for many tests, digital x-rays and basic ultrasound, so the vet can often find the cause in one visit. An on-site pharmacy means most pets go home with their medicine.

Within 90 minutes, my dog had gone through blood work, x-rays, and had a diagnosis and treatment plan.

What happens when you arrive

1. The team checks breathing, gums and pain level first, so the sickest pets are seen first.

2. The vet examines your pet and explains what they think is going on.

3. You get an estimate before any test or treatment. The final bill can differ if the plan changes during the visit.

4. Your pet is treated, and you leave with medicine, written instructions and signs that mean "come back."

Fear Free handling is standard at every Petfolk clinic. A scared, hurting pet gets slow, gentle handling, and you can often stay in the room.

How much does urgent care cost?

At Petfolk Peachtree Corners, a sick or urgent exam starts at $135. With the PetfolkCare Plan, which starts at $199 a year, that exam starts at $36. Members can also reach a 24/7 care team by chat when they aren't sure whether to come in. The clinic works with all major pet insurance providers and accepts CareCredit.

Open weekends, close to home

Petfolk Peachtree Corners is open weekends, when many regular vets are closed. Pet parents come from Norcross, Duluth, Johns Creek and Suwanee because they can be seen the same day instead of days later. Book online to see today's times. If you can, bring any medicine bottles, a photo of what your pet ate, and your last vet's records.
