Pet X-Rays in Peachtree Corners, GA, From Your Local Vet

Digital x-rays on site for limping, coughing, swallowed objects and more, with the images shown to you.

Petfolk Veterinary & Urgent Care - Peachtree Corners is a vet in Peachtree Corners, GA, that takes digital x-rays of dogs and cats on site. The images are ready in minutes, so the vet can often explain them at the same visit. Walk-ins and same-day appointments are welcome when your pet is hurting.

X-rays show bones, the chest and the belly. They help answer questions an exam alone can't, like "is it broken?" or "did he swallow it?"

Call (770) 637-0032, book online or walk in.

What can an x-ray show?

The vet may order x-rays for:

  • Limping, a swollen leg or pain after a fall

  • Coughing or fast breathing, to check the lungs and heart size

  • A pet who swallowed a toy, sock, bone or rock

  • Bladder stones in a pet who strains to pee

  • A swollen belly or vomiting that won't stop

  • Back pain or a dog who cries when picked up

  • Checking a mass or an older pet's joints

Some problems, like soft-tissue changes inside organs, show better on ultrasound. The vet will explain which test fits.

Will my pet need sedation for x-rays?

Many pets lie still with gentle hands and a few treats. A pet in pain, or one who is very nervous, may need light sedation so the position is right and the image is clear. Fear Free handling is standard at every Petfolk clinic, and the vet will talk with you before giving any sedative.

Who reads my pet's x-rays?

A Petfolk vet looks at the images first, often while you wait. Across Petfolk, more than three-quarters of x-ray studies (78%) between Oct 1, 2025 and Sep 30, 2026 were also sent to a specialist radiologist. About a quarter of those reviews (27%) were rushed for a faster read when the answer could not wait.

They also took the time to show us and explain the x-rays, and even video of a procedure that was done.

A river walk gone wrong

Dogs love the trails at Jones Bridge Park and Simpsonwood Park, and rocks, sticks and riverbank scrambles are part of the fun. They are also behind a lot of sore legs and swallowed objects. If your dog comes home limping for more than a day, or tried to eat a rock, an x-ray is often the fastest way to know what happened. Bring the toy or wrapper if part of it is missing.

Getting ready for x-rays

Most x-rays need no prep. A few things help:

  • If sedation is possible, ask whether to hold breakfast.

  • Keep a limping dog on a short leash, and carry small dogs. No stairs or jumping.

  • Bring a cat in a carrier with a top that opens, so the team can lift her out gently.

  • Write down when the problem started and whether it is getting worse.

X-rays of a growing puppy look different from an adult's, because the growth plates are still open. In older dogs, x-rays often show arthritis in the hips or spine, which explains a slow start on morning walks. The vet will explain what is normal for your pet's age.

What x-rays cost

The cost depends on how many views your pet needs and whether sedation is used. You'll get an estimate before any test or treatment. The final bill can differ if the plan changes during the visit. A sick or urgent exam starts at $135, and the clinic works with all major pet insurance providers. PetfolkCare members pay less: their sick exam starts at $36, and the plan starts at $199 a year. Ask for a copy of the images if your pet sees a specialist.

When to go straight to a hospital

Some injuries need a 24-hour emergency hospital first, not an x-ray appointment. Go to one such as Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Brookhaven for a pet hit by a car, a leg bent at an odd angle with heavy bleeding, labored breathing, or a hard, swollen belly with retching.
