Does this injury need a 24-hour hospital instead?
Some injuries are too big for an urgent care clinic. Head to a 24-hour hospital, such as VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Fishers or MedVet in Carmel, when:
blood soaks through a towel even after you press on it for several minutes;
you can see bone, or a leg hangs at an odd angle;
your pet was hit by a car, even if they seem fine now;
a bite went into the chest or belly, or your pet breathes fast and shallow;
your pet cannot get up or does not respond to you.
Not sure? Call Petfolk Noblesville at (463) 217-5944 while the clinic is open. The team will ask what you see and help you pick the right place.
Which wounds can be treated here today?
Most everyday injuries can be handled in one visit at Petfolk Noblesville:
Bite wounds and punctures from another dog or a cat
Cuts on paw pads from glass, sharp rocks or ice
Torn or broken nails that keep bleeding
Scrapes and hot spots that a pet keeps licking
Abscesses, the swollen pockets that form days after a bite
Limping, sprains and sore joints after a hard play session
Stitches or a bandage that came off too early
The clinic has digital x-rays on site, so the vet can check for a broken bone or a hidden tooth fragment during the same visit.
How does the vet treat a bite or a cut?
The vet starts with a gentle exam, using Fear Free handling. A sore pet may need a little sedation or pain relief so the area can be looked at without a struggle. Then the vet:
Clips the fur and cleans the wound well.
Checks how deep it goes. Small punctures can hide damage under the skin.
Closes it with stitches or leaves it open to drain, depending on the wound.
Sends you home with pain medicine and, if needed, antibiotics and a cone.
You'll get an estimate before any test or treatment. The final bill can differ if the plan changes during the visit. Sick and urgent exams start at $135.
One Noblesville family brought in a four-month-old puppy with a dog bite. They later wrote:
They took great care of our little pup both during and after treatment with easy communication.

What if a wild animal or another pet bit mine?
Tell the vet who bit your pet and when. A bite from a raccoon, bat or other wild animal raises a rabies question, and the vet will check your pet's rabies record and may give a booster. Indiana does not need a report when one pet bites another, but your pet should still see its own vet.
In August 2026, the Hamilton County Health Department said residents had reported bites from a raccoon, a chipmunk, a snapping turtle and several bats that summer. If any wild animal bit a person in your home, report it to the health department too.
First aid on the drive over
Press a clean towel or gauze on a bleeding wound. Do not lift it to check.
Muzzle a hurting dog with a soft leash loop if they snap. Even sweet dogs bite when in pain.
Do not put peroxide, alcohol or human creams on the wound.
Carry small pets in a carrier or a box with a towel.
Dogs on the Midland Trace Trail or the Dillon Park Loop can catch a pad on a rough edge, and a sore paw can show up the next morning as a limp. Check pads after long walks.
Healing at home
Keep the cone on until the vet says it can come off. Licking pulls stitches and slows healing. Look at the wound twice a day. Call if it gets redder, swells, smells or leaks pus, or if your pet stops eating. Most stitches come out in about 10 to 14 days.
