What medicines can I get at the clinic?
Common ones include:
Antibiotics and ear and eye drops
Pain and anti-inflammatory medicine for dogs and cats
Itch relief for allergies
Medicine for upset stomachs, and prescription diets
If a medicine isn't in stock, the team will tell you your options.
At our Houston-area clinics, about 4 in 5 visits for limping between Oct 1, 2025 and Sep 30, 2026 included a prescription medicine.
Can I fill my pet's prescription somewhere else?
Ask the team. For some long-term medicines, an outside pharmacy may cost less, and the team can talk through choices with you. What matters most is that your pet gets the right drug, at the right dose, without a gap.
I'm so relieved to find a vet I can communicate thoroughly with who puts care before dollars.

How do I get a refill?
Call the clinic or ask at your next visit. Some medicines can be refilled for a set time without a new exam. Others, like long-term pain or thyroid medicine, need a recheck or blood work first, so the vet can make sure the dose is still safe. Ask for a refill a few days before you run out.
Giving medicine without a fight
Hide pills in a soft treat or a pill pocket, unless the vet says to give it on an empty stomach
For cats, ask whether a liquid or a chewable form is available
Give a treat right after, so medicine time ends well
Never crush or split a pill unless the team says it's safe
Ask the team to show you how at the visit. Fear Free handling is part of every visit, and that includes teaching you an easy way to give pills at home.
Never share human medicine
Some common human medicines can make pets very sick. Pain pills like ibuprofen and naproxen, and some cold medicines, can harm the stomach, kidneys or liver. Always call the clinic before giving anything from your own cabinet.
Read the label before you leave
Each label shows your pet's name, the drug, the strength, how much to give and how often. Check it at the counter, and ask the team to repeat anything that's unclear. Write the start date on the box, and set a phone alarm for each dose. If two people in the home give medicine, keep a simple chart on the fridge so no dose is doubled or missed. Bring the bottle to your next visit so the vet can see exactly what your pet takes.
Pharmacy pricing
Medicine is priced per item and added to your visit. A sick exam at Petfolk Missouri City starts at $135. You'll get an estimate before any test or treatment. The final bill can differ if the plan changes during the visit. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay and CareCredit are accepted.
If a medicine causes a reaction
Call the clinic if your pet vomits, stops eating, or seems off after starting a new medicine. If your pet's face swells, it has trouble breathing, or it collapses, go to a 24-hour emergency hospital such as VEG on University Blvd in Sugar Land.
